Dear Filly: ‘I’m not close to my roommate…’

Dear Filly,

I’m not close to my roommate, what should I do?

Sincerely,

Concerned Caterpillar

Dear Concerned Caterpillar,

Living with someone you aren’t close with can be difficult, but it isn’t the end of the world. You can make other friends by joining clubs and reaching out to classmates you have things in common with. You two can be acquaintances that live with each other and that’s okay!

I feel that answer does not completely answer your question. Find things you two have in common and go from there. Do they have a poster of a band you like in the dorm? Ask them what their favorite song is and what makes them enjoy the band. Have they mentioned a favorite restaurant before? Ask them if they want to go eat there with you. After all, food is the way to the heart!

Sincerely,

Filly

Dear Filly,

How do you get involved on campus?

Sincerely,

Curious Cat

Dear Curious Cat,

The greatest thing about college is how easy it is to get involved on campus (and the free food everywhere). Getting to know a club and how to join is as easy as direct messaging them through social media to ask for information on meetings!

If you aren’t sure about the clubs offered on campus, Club Rush is always an option! This semester it is Monday, August 21 at 4:00 p.m. in The Meadows. During Club Rush, the clubs will sit out tables where they can talk to you about what they do, allow you to sign up for emails, and become more involved on campus! This way you can see what clubs will fit with your schedule and interests. Good luck club hunting!

Sincerely,

Filly
