There have been some significant changes for the Counseling Center over the summer. The Counseling Center, which was part of Accommodation Services, now has its own office! The Counseling Center now located in Branch Hall Suite 201, boasts a private waiting room, group rooms, and private suites for students to connect with their ABAC mental health counselor via teletherapy.
Also new is the Center’s website, http://www.abac.edu/counseling-center. Here, students can find a variety of mental health information and tips to stay mentally fit all semester long. Students can find advice on topics such as how to manage anxiety, homesickness, depression, and building better relationships on the new website. Students can also access the site to learn more about the ABAC Wellness Hub and LetsChat@ABAC.
The ABAC Wellness Hub provides students with helpful articles geared toward mental health. Students can find articles on topics varying from studying to eating well to relaxation exercises. Also available is the LetsChat@ABAC which is provided through a partnership between ABAC and Christie Campus Health. Through LetsChat@ABAC, students are eligible for free sessions with a licensed counselor in the state and have access to psychiatry and medication services. LetsChat@ABAC also provides a 24/7 support line, which students can access by calling (229)391-5135 and selecting option two. For more information go to http://www.abac.edu/letschat and https://abacwellnesshub.com.
The ABAC Counseling Center provides individual counseling, crisis response and outreach services at the Tifton and Bainbridge campuses. In addition to these services, the Counseling Center also hosts Drop-In Counseling every week! Students do not need to make an appointment to access this service, simply drop in during one of the times listed via the link posted on the counseling website.
The Counseling Center is staffed by two licensed counselors and office coordinator, Sue Dees. Triniti N. Anderson is a licensed professional counselor and certified autism disorder specialist with over 15 years of mental health and counseling experience. Dr. Shubha Chatterjee is a licensed professional counselor, certified addictions specialist, and art therapist with 14 years of experience in counseling services. The staff at the Counseling Center are here to support you, because mental health is health. If you are struggling, or know someone who is, please contact the Counseling Center via email: cousneling@abac.edu or by calling (229)391-5135.
