Beauty School Dropout is currently on tour for their most recent album, “Where Did All the Butterflies Go?” and I was lucky enough to attend the Atlanta date at The Masquerade, Hell on March 6th.
This was my third Beauty School Dropout show, and they have never failed to amaze me! The four members of the band; Colie, Bardo, Beepus, and Mike, bring unique energy to the stage every time.
The show started off with a set by their openers, Nightbreakers, and they were amazing! Their energy was absolutely electric, and the crowd loved them. This was actually my first time hearing of the band and they did not disappoint.
They played singles off their first album, “Not Like We Used To” as well as a few older songs from their earlier EPs. One song that stuck out was actually a request from someone in the crowd, a single released in 2020 titled Attention.
Nightbreakers’ music is very fun and pop-punky, so they really complimented Beauty School Dropout who toe the line between punk, pop-punk, and electronic music.
Once the Nightbreakers set was over, Beauty School Dropout took the stage, and they were fantastic. The show opened with XXX, a song from their new album.
The crowd was incredibly hyped and sang along for the entire time. After a couple songs, they stopped for introductions and then played the title track of their first album, We Made Plans and God Laughed, and the crowd loved it, once again the venue was filled with people cheering and singing along word for word. At one point, Bardo threw a pic and it landed in my hair, so I also got a free souvenir as well! Beauty School Dropout ends every show with a song called “Fight Mode” and a mosh pit; it was so fun!
Everyone at the show was really respectful and no one got hurt. This song is definitely my favorite part about seeing this band live.
Occasionally, throughout the show they’d stop to chat to the crowd, which was really nice. At one point Colie, the lead singer, took a moment to express how much they love playing in Atlanta.
They took breaks to joke around with the crowd as well and the energy in the venue was overall very fun and welcoming, Bardo, the guitarist, took a moment to thank everyone for creating a safe space. The entire band was very hype all night and made sure to make everyone in the venue feel welcome and created a very fun experience for us all!
I was, unfortunately, not able to interview any concert goers but my friends and I did meet a Nightbreakers and the bassist, Beepus, and lead singer, Colie, of Beauty School Dropout afterward, which was very fun!
They were all very nice and we took photos with all of them. Being able to meet the bands was so fun and I wasn’t expecting them to all come out at the end, so it was a welcome surprise! Beauty School Dropout and Nightbreakers put on an awesome show, and I really hope I can see them again soon! This was the best 2 and a half hours ever!
