Stallion Day is an opportunity for students to tour around campus and learn more about what it offers, with the first Stallion Day taking place on February 7th. Every Stallion Day is different and meaningful, and a lot of effort is put in to make it happen.

With over 50 clubs on campus, upcoming students were able to see what opportunities await. Clubs such as the Student Government Association (SGA), Alpha Gama Row, Cattlemen’s Association, Rodeo Club, Music Club, Women in Business, and more.

Starting at 8:00 a.m., families from all over come in and tour the campus. Lead by the ABAC Ambassadors here on campus, they learn about the history of the campus and whether ABAC is the right place for their future. At a certain point lunch is provided for the families, after that wagons deliver families to certain destinations around campus. Furthermore, ambassadors also take families on golf carts if requested prior to around campus.

Anslee James, Senior Writing and Commination major, said, “We started off the day with campus tours and farm tours, which the groups loved. Then, we had lunch with the prospective students. After lunch, we headed to a trolley to go to Club Connections!” Meanwhile, clubs start to set up and get ready in the Ag Tech building to greet new upcoming students that have diverse interests.

As prospective students enter through the front door of the Ag Tech Building, they are welcomed inside with a hand wave or a formal greeting. Not only is Stallion Day good for students, but current members get a chance to display their knowledge about their club. This is vital to Stallion Day–the opportunity to showcase their extracurriculars allows current students to workshop public speaking skills and gives prospective students a good idea of what ABAC’s campus looks like.

Rafeal King, Freshman, History & Government Major said “Doing Stallion Day was a fun experience to say the least. For one, I enjoyed supporting our club and making it feel worthwhile. I think our president did a good job on making people come to our table and made it feel like people wanted. I enjoyed talking to the upcoming students and helping them find their club here at ABAC.”

As students support their clubs, they become more open to interacting with people. Also, it shows the dedication that students are willing to contribute.

James also said, “As a student leader, events like Stallion Day remind me why I chose to join the organizations that I did. It reminds me of how much of a tight-knit campus we are, and how much I want to spread that Stallion Day joy to prospective students!”

Briana Hernadez, Senior Writing and Communication major, who also doing an internship within the department, said, “I remember since,
I’m a transfer I didn’t really get to experience Stallion Day. I didn’t get to really meet anybody. So, I’m really glad that I’m able to connect with students.” Stallion Day provides an opportunity for both students and families to get to know each other and become more engaged on campus. Be on the lookout for the next one, you won’t want to miss it!
