ABAC-Bainbridge campus held its annual Fall Festival just before Thanksgiving break. Students, faculty, and staff joined together for fun, games, and a large selection of snacks and pizza.
One of the festival’s most popular events was the build a bear station, where students could create their own stuffed animals. Students had the option to pick from many different animals, from a highland cow to a lynx.
“Stuffing the animals and the soda was my favorite,” said Zavian Orton, a dual-enrollment student. Walker Elrod, another student, said that the event was “very fun” and that he “enjoyed making a stuffed animal.”
The festival featured other events, including a large jigsaw puzzle to complete. To make things more challenging, the puzzle had more
pieces than required to solve, leaving students guessing as to which pieces were required.
This fall festival wasn’t just a party to celebrate fall but also served as a way for students to come together and relax before finals. Dr. Jay/Branagan Webb, stated “it was a great event, well attended, and a good opportunity for students to blow off steam before finals.”
Located on 1303 Vada Rd in Bainbridge, Morningside Baptist Church is excited to announce that they will be hosting a drive through
Nativity scene right outside of their church, with scenes ranging from Mary and Joseph traveling to Bethlehem, to the birth scene of baby
Jesus. The church members have been working for a few months now to put on this event, building every scene from scratch and even painting every animal with realistic details.
One of the church’s members, Mrs. Gena Kelley, said the purpose is “to share the true meaning of Christmas, which is the birth of Jesus Christ, and to reach those that are lost in our community.”
The nativity scene will last from December 4 through 13, starting at 6:30 PM and ending at 8:00 PM. As you arrive, you will be given a piece
of paper that has a QR code on it that allows you to listen to the Christmas story from the Bible. As you move from scene to scene, you can pause and play the recording so you can follow at your own pace. A script will be provided to attendees.
In addition to the drive through nativity, Morningside Baptist Church is also hosting a “Breakfast in Bethlehem,” at 10AM, that is open to all age’s pre-K to 5th grade. The church also hosts choir practices every Sunday at 5PM, in addition to Sunday school from 9:45 to 10:45, morning service from 11 to 12, and then an evening service from 6 to 7. Throughout the past 5 weeks ABAC Bainbridge students and Faculty have donated goods in preparation for the ABAC Food Drive. Staff and
students have helped prepare more than 150 bags of prepped meals for families in need just in time for the Thanksgiving Holiday. ABAC was
not alone in this as Five Star Credit Union contributed with canned goods as well as informational materials for financial support.
I can say the rush of it was amazing and helping people was the most important. This was also our first time involving a business to the Food Bank and they have helped us tremendously from the promoting to financial support for many of our students and community in need.
