La Fiesta del Pueblo is the largest Hispanic Festival in South Georgia that’s celebrated annually on the last Saturday of every Sept. This festival brings together not only Tifton’s community but also surrounding counties all over the region.
This festival celebrates Hispanic culture through music, dances, food and drinks, jewelry, and art. Filled with many vibrant colors and informational booths, it brings cultural awareness while also emphasizing community and personal growth.
The festival also celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month, which is a month-long celebration that begins Sept. 16 and runs until Oct. 16.
As stated on La Fiesta del Pueblo’s website, it is “a vibrant celebration that brings together the Latin community, transcending borders and generations. This festival serves as the ideal stage to share essential information, quality education, and a variety of activities that celebrate our common heritage.”
Over the years, this festival has grown substantially. Food stands were lined up all over the park to sell popular foods. Delicious scents of carne asada, churros, tacos, and other popular Hispanic foods grabbed many attendees’ attention and was definitely a highlight of the event. Everywhere you walked, you would see elotes, esquites, tacos, tortas, empanadas, aguas frescas, and more.

Vendors at the festival sold handmade jewelry, crafts, and art that were inspired by Latin America, which brought a ton of vibrant colors that
were eye-catching to those walking around.
Many stage performances were held every hour of the festival, including mariachi bands, folklórico dancers, danzas, bandas, DJs playing salsa music, reggaeton, and other music that had the young and old dancing the day and night away.
ABAC’s Cultura Latinx Club (CLC) used this festival as their fundraiser. CLC is a nonprofit club that helps unify the ABAC community through social, cultural, and academic awareness, and to embrace individuals from different backgrounds and ethnicities.
CLC executive officers, members, and volunteers prepped and sold food and drinks like aguas frescas, esquites, elotes, bazos de fruita (fruit cups), and chicharrónes.
This festival helped the club raise money that will serve as funds for future events and meetings. Beyond the vendors and preformers, La Fiesta del Pueblo is more than a festival; it’s a place where many attendees can get information from a variety of organizations on what is happening in our government right now.
Several booths provided resources, health information, and community service. Many local organizations have come together to support and celebrate cultural diversity and bring awareness.
La Fiesta del Pueblo helps to remind the community of the importance of highlighting the traditions and the greatest strengths of the Hispanic community. It truly is the heart of Tifton’s Hispanic spirit.
