ABAC-Bainbridge’s food bank has been a helping hand for the students on campus as well as the community for well over a year.
The food bank aims to provide food for everyone, particularly during the busy school year when students or campus community members may not be prioritizing their eating.
As Student Government vice president for the Bainbridge campus, I am aiming for our food bank to be bigger and better than before. We have already begun implementing new strategies and ideas that we are excited to share in the near future.
Since its initiation last year, Ms. Tina Burney and Dr. Molly Day have truly made this special for the students of ABAC. From providing snacks on campus throughout the day to traveling back and forth to get the items, they have truly made it much more recognizable and very appreciated among the students on campus.
The food bank’s mission is to fight food insecurity by providing accessible, nutritious food to students and community members in need.
We want to build a stronger and more supportive campus community. This is a welcoming space that allows individuals to get what they need to help them on campus and beyond.
A food drive was also done last year during the food bank’s infancy and proved itself to be successful.
The food bank has also begun taking business contributors this year, which will be revealed in the near future.
This year’s food bank has some objectives that we hope to accomplish before this semester ends. A way to ensure we reach those goals is by showing your support! Advertising the food bank off to not only the Bainbridge campus but also to the Tifton campus will not only expand our outreach, but it will also allow students be able to either provide or get what they need from it.
ABAC-Bainbridge’s food bank is planning to host a food drive soon, so be sure to keep up with The Stallion for updates in the coming months.
