Rachel Frantz has served as the Career Center coordinator for approximately two years and has been at ABAC since Dec. 2021, helping pave the way for countless students’ success.

Frantz said, “Working in career development, my goal is always to ensure that students have the resources and support they need to build a path that truly fits who they are. For some, success might mean earning a high salary, while for others, it’s about finding a career that offers a healthy work-life balance.”

Frantz was also a student at ABAC but attended the college for two years before transferring to Georgia College and State University to finish her degree.

“I ended up staying two years because at the time, the degree I wanted to pursue we didn’t offer as a four-year degree,” Frantz said. “So, my advisor at the time said that if you want to go somewhere that has a similar field to ABAC, then you need to go here, and that ended up being Georgia College and State University.”

Frantz also worked for another college—where she got her master’s degree—before returning to ABAC, but she always felt like she would come back to ABAC someday.

“I kind of always thought I might end up back here. I was in the area, I really liked ABAC, and I had such a good experience here. So, when the position became open in Academic Support, I applied and decided it was the perfect position for me at the time,” Frantz said.

Frantz is also originally from Sylvester, GA, and has grown up in the area. Having been a student at ABAC and now working here, she says that ABAC has gone through some changes.

Frantz said, “ABAC has grown so much since I was a student here. I remember when I came for my interview, and I was interviewed in the Carlton Center. It had recently been remodeled, and I was like, wow, this is a whole new modern building. It had new study areas. It just felt fresher.”

When it comes to getting personal and learning more about Frantz, she has several hobbies, like reading. “It helps you reset a little bit and kind of get you to focus on things that are maybe not stressing you out day to day,” she said.

One thing that I admired about Frantz is that she enjoys working in her garden because, she says, it’s something that separates her from work.

“Every once in a while, you need a little bit of a reset to focus on something that’s not 100% work.”

Frantz also spoke about finding value and balance in your day-to-day life. “The more you focus on throwing yourself into moving forward, the less you get to enjoy where you are at. College is a time for growth and exploration, but many students feel pressured to have everything figured out quickly.”

For last remarks and words of wisdom for students, Frantz said, “Enjoy your time here. There is so much to do and so many new people to meet. Just try new things, talk to people, and put yourself out there.”
