Do you have school spirit? We hope you do! ABAC is holding tryouts for a new cheerleading and dance team.

While the crowd is already rowdy for our Stallions and Fillies basketball teams, the cheer and dance team will be able to rally and hype up the crowd with their energy and dedication, showing what ABAC pride really looks like.

Tryouts will be held Monday through Wednesday, Aug. 25-27 from 7:00 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Gressette Gym for anyone interested in attending.

While it is important to bring water and athletic shoes, don’t be shy if you don’t have background experience! Tryouts are open to any students with or without experience. What’s most important is that you’re willing to learn, be coachable, and bring school spirit!

Analis Hernandez, a sophomore on ABAC’s Fillies team, explained her excitement of a cheerleading and dance team: “I would love to see a cheer team in our stands!”

She continued, “I think it’s important with any sports program they have a cheerleading team to pump up the crowd!”

Sophomore Taylor Frazier, a center for our Fillies, discusses her feelings towards a possible team.

“Having a cheerleading and dance team would bring much more energy onto the court,” Frazier said. “Not only will it hype up the crowd, but it will motivate us as well.”

This will be the second year ABAC’s Stallions and Fillies teams will be competing in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics’ (NAIA) Southern States Athletic Conference. With the cheerleading and dance team, there is hope for more community involvement.

If you are interested in trying out, make sure to contact Abigail Clark (abigail.clark@abac.edu) for the interest form and to hear more about the opportunities and updates and for any questions you may have.
