The National Basketball Association (NBA) playoffs began late April. Some fan-favorite teams
were knocked out early in the playoffs, like the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, Memphis
Grizzlies, and the Los Angeles Clippers representing the Western Conference, and the Miami
Heat, Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, and the Milwaukee Bucks representing the Eastern
Conference. But after three rounds of teams going head-to-head, we are finally down to two
teams in the NBA finals, with the Indiana Pacers and the Oklahoma City Thunder facing off to
see who will bring home the 2025 NBA Championship.
Game One of the NBA finals began on June 5, but before the game, players from each team were
interviewed and asked about the upcoming game. Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers was
asked by Hall of Famer and retired Indiana Pacers player Reggie Miller what it would mean to
him to bring home a championship to Indiana. Haliburton replied and said that it would mean the
world to him and that it has to happen.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder says that his primary goal is to lead his
team to a championship and achieve all of their goals. Gilgeous-Alexander also talked about the
importance of winning and views it as the ultimate goal in a competition.
With both teams fired up and ready to go into Game One, the game commenced, and what a
close one it was, coming down to a score of 111 to 110, with the Indiana Pacers taking Game
One after Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers hit a game-winning shot to take the lead.
After Game One, Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder spoke to reporters and said
that the Thunder must be better and that it’s not rocket science, stating how the Thunder will
bounce back after the Game One loss.
Coach Mark Daigneault of the Indiana Pacers acknowledged the Pacers’ great spirit and their
ability to make clutch plays to secure Game One. Daigneault also highlighted the Thunder’s
learning opportunities and their commitment to adapting their lineup and approach for the next
game.
Game Two of the NBA finals will take place on Sunday, June 8, with the Oklahoma City
Thunder having the home-court advantage. If you’re looking to stay updated on the NBA finals,
