Recently, ABAC filled the position of Production and Studio Coordinator. Moultrie native Katherine Kelly was selected as the Production and Studio Coordinator as she starts her first year at ABAC this semester.
Before, in her hometown Moultrie, Ga., Kelly worked as an audio, video, and technology teacher at C. A. Gray Junior Highschool. Due to the changes within the high school, her position would no longer be available for the next school term. From there, she started to search for local jobs and came across the position at ABAC.
Chris Daniels, Director of Instructional Technology and the CTO said, “We had a number of qualified applicants with technical experience. In addition to her experience teaching AV technology and film, the committee agreed that Ms. Kelly demonstrated a passion for creating connections with students that provide opportunities to explore audio and video communication skills.”
Since her hiring Kelly, has been faced with challenges, Kelly said, “I never really worked inside a studio like this, with all of the cameras and equipment, so getting into the studio and using the equipment has been a lot of fun.”
Kelly, as she said, “hopes to bring her teaching skills to understand the industry a little better.” Although it has been a little over a month since hiring, Kelly has held a meeting with the Studio 3 student media team, sharing suggestions and guidance on potential projects. She said, “My biggest goal is to hire student works, and get them to stay all four years.”
Mary Stanfield, student worker for Studio 3, said “I have seen Mrs. Katie interact with students in a really positive way so far this semester. She has helped me on an upcoming project that I’m working on. It doesn’t have a name yet, but it’s for the ABAC Wildlife Society.”
As the semester rolls over, Kelly looks forward to helping students gain insight and gain knowledge about her new environment. If you would like to be a part of Studio 3, you can email Kelly at katherine.kelly@abac.edu.
