Tifton, GA. – It was a tough weekend for The Fillies soccer team who were playing up against the second-ranked team in the Southern States Athletic Conference, Life University, on Saturday September 21st.
Life University came out in the first half attacking the goal and scored their first goal around seven minutes into the game. This allowed the Running Eagles to gain momentum against The Fillies and use it throughout the rest of the game. While Fillies goalie Carleigh Scott had 9 saves, it wasn’t enough to stop Life’s attacking players. Despite a strong effort from The Fillies, Life University won the game 17-0. The win marked the highest number of goals scored for the women’s soccer program at Life University.
While the Filles’ loss was tough, Coach Earls hopes to focus on the team’s best attributes and adjust for the rest of conference play. Coach Earls spoke out about the areas he believes that the Fillies can improve on. “Communication and just playing to our potential,” Earls said, “We practice really well. We just got to learn how to practice how we play. Once people learn how to do that, we can use that during conference.”
Due to weather conditions caused by Hurricane Helene, the Fillies’ schedule has changed. Keep an eye out on the ABAC Women’s Soccer Instagram page for more updates @abacsoccer.
