SGA hosts remembrance event alongside Douglas American Legion and CCHS NJROTC

2024 marks the 23rd anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, a day remembered by every American. In commemoration, the Student Government Association (SGA) of ABAC held its annual 9/11 Remembrance Service. The event, led by SGA Senators Laura Wiley and Wendy Gonzalez, brought together faculty and students in a heartfelt ceremony to honor the lives lost and reflect on the nation’s resilience.

The ceremony took place at 1 p.m. in Howard Auditorium, where ABAC faculty and students gathered to recognize the significance of the day. The service opened with a moment of silence, allowing attendees to quietly remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost in the 2001 attacks. The reverence in the room showed the respect and sorrow felt by all, as the audience collectively paused to pay their respects to the victims, survivors, and first responders.

Afterward, the ABAC concert band and choir performed a moving rendition of the national anthem. This performance set a reflective tone for the rest of the service.

ABAC President Dr. Tracy Brundage and ABAC student Teagan Jameson delivered speeches, both sharing powerful messages about compassion, reflection, and the importance of unity in tough times.

The service concluded with closing remarks from Senators Wiley and Gonzalez. Both thanked everyone for attending and emphasized the importance of coming together as a community to remember this day.

This simple yet meaningful event allowed the ABAC community to come together and reflect on the events of 9/11, keeping the memory alive while also looking forward with hope and unity.
