“My biggest advice to this new class is to not be lame! Get involved on campus, talk to your professors, and attend events. Even if it’s just you going!” Nicholson said. “Being involved has helped me so much as a student leader. It helped me become more socially aware and prepared for opportunities in the future.”

The anticipation of beginning their college careers had students energized as they made their way into the gym. First-year agriculture education student Anna Barfield said, “I’m really excited about starting this new life. I’ve been waiting for this day forever!”

Once all freshmen, student leaders, and faculty arrived, the ceremony officially started. SGA President Jenna Williams congratulated the class of 2028 during her address and encouraged students to take advantage of all the opportunities ABAC will offer during their years here.

“Academics are important— you do need to make sure that you hit the books and get to studying, but class is not just books and studying. College is so much more than that. You have to really get out there. You have to get involved in clubs and, most importantly, make a name for yourself on campus,” Williams said.

Stallion Society Co President Brianna Payne then gave her welcome to the class, urging them to make the most of their time while at ABAC.
“Cherish every moment of your college experience, and don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone. This is your time to shine and grow, so take full advantage of everything ABAC has to offer,” Payne said.

Following the speeches, students were called from the stands by their group numbers to file into the 2028 shape. White spray paint outlined the border to provide clear instructions of where to stand. The process was organized and streamlined, which allowed the class picture to be created in under 30 minutes.
