After winning a local pageant, next is the state pageant, and after that is the national pageant. There is a constant ladder to climb for these passionate and driven women.
Brooke Vanzant, who recently won the preliminary title Miss Georgia Honeybee USA 2024, doesn’t look to stop there as she continues forward for Miss Georgia USA 2024. Competing in pageants can be a challenge.
After winning a local pageant, next is the state pageant, and after that is the national pageant. There is a constant ladder to climb for these passionate and driven women.
The Ag Education student used to watch Miss USA as a child, and in her senior year of high school, she finally competed in her first pageant. Vanzant was asked to represent the cross-country team, beginning her love for competing in pageants.
Vanzant’s mother also competed in pageants when she was younger, and together they continue to navigate the new style of the “World of Pageantry.”
After giving up her first state title, Miss Georgia Forestry 2022, Vanzant ran for Miss Georgia South Pageant, which is known as the “Super Bowl of Pageants” within the circuits. While she got 11th place, that didn’t stop her from her march onward in pageantry.
As she said, some of the best advice she was given was, “Everything is for a reason.”
This year, Vanzant entered in for the preliminary title of Miss Georgia Honeybee and won with grace and elegance.
“I’m just in shock,” Vanzant said.
This has been a huge boost to her. She knows the industry recognizes both the inner and outer beauty of all the women gracing the stages to compete.
The competition for this year’s Georgia Honeybee USA title was a one-day event on Sept. 30, 2023. That day, the contestants were interviewed about their motives and goals along with an evening gown competition.
Evening gown competitions allow for contestants to show their personalities in a non-verbal form, showing judges their charm is constant.
Vanzant said, “Evening gown walks are a lot slower. So having to learn the different walks and making sure you looked poised and graceful while doing it is very challenging.”
After that, the judges announced the runners-up. Title announcements can be thrilling and nerve-wracking. Once this was announced, the judge presented Vanzant with the preliminary title Miss Georgia Honeybee USA 2024! The ABAC student’s knees buckled, and her hands covered her mouth in shock and honor.
It is no surprise that ABAC students continue to shine on and off campus.
