The ABAC Fillies are off to a slow start this season but have a lot to build on over their past five games. The team started the season by traveling to Clearwater Florida to play in the JUCO Kickoff Classic Tournament. They had a double-header Friday, January 28. The first game of the double-header was against Eastern Florida State College where the Fillies lost 3-0. The next game they participated in that day was against State College of Florida which resulted in a loss of 4-1.

The following day the Fillies softball team had another double-header. The Phillies lost the first game 5-4 against Northwest Florida State College but ended the weekend tournament with a win over Daytona State College 8-6.

The next game for the Fillies was played against the second-ranked team in the country. Coach Jennifer Walls was excited to be playing such a high-ranking team. The Fillies held their own last Thursday, February 3 against Chipola College in the first game. The final score was 7-5.

The second game of their doubleheader last Thursday wasn’t as pretty as the first game. The final score was 9-1.

Coach Jennifer Walls is confident in the team’s ability to play and compete. She believes once the team starts to relax and get rid of the early season jitters, they have every opportunity to make it all the way to the championship.
