Recently ABAC students and professor Britta Cox attended the International Production and Processing Expo (IPPE) in Atlanta for the Career Program offered by the expo.
The career program gives students the opportunity to meet with representatives from some of the largest poultry producers in the world and have a chance to interview for both permanent and internship opportunities within those same companies. Interviewing in the program allows students to get interview experience and maybe find their place within the meat industry and make connections within the companies exhibited in the program. It also allows students to interact with students from not just across the country, but from around the world.
The expo also gives students the ability to attend the technology and industry expo to see what producers from meat industries around the world have to offer. There were companies from around the world such as India, Brazil, France, and many more.
The expo will take your breath away with the amazing diversity both in technology and the people involved in it. It gives students the opportunity to see sides of the meat industry that they may have never considered and meet plenty of people and learn about the meat industry in one of the unique ways possible.
Not only is it an amazing opportunity it is also extremely affordable for students to attend. As someone who attended themselves, I jumped at the chance to go after finding that the cost to me was a $25 refundable fee I got back when I got on the bus to go and the cost of a few meals. The fees to attend the expo and the hotel costs were all covered, and I have to say the minimal cost was well worth being able to attend.
I know I’ll be taking the opportunity to attend when the expo comes around again, and if you’re searching for a place in the meat industry, or even if you just want to learn more about the industry and gain some interview experience, you will find what you are looking for and so much more at the International Production and Processing Expo.
