The only frozen yogurt shop in Tifton, Yellow Monkey, stands on South Virginia Avenue next to Golden Corral and is literally one of a kind for this town. Since La’ Berry Frozen Yogurt Café’s outlet next to Publix closed a few years back, Yellow Monkey has received little to no competition, but nobody is complaining. Even on a grey and windy day like the Saturday I decided to go the bright blue and yellow walls jumped out at me, and washed the grey background behind the doors away.
“Alvin and the Chipmunks” was played on their main TV, a nice background noise for those there on their own and great entertainment for kids. The seating on the inside was nice and spacious, so you would not feel cramped unless it’s busy and even then there were some options for seating outside as well. The rear chalkboard wall featured a drawing of their monkey logo with heart eyes and the words, “We love our customers” beside him; that behavior showed on my visit.
Aside from the color, the service was also warm and bright. The clerks always ask if you would like to try a flavor or two before you commit to one and hand you sample cups. This simple gesture immediately heightens the experience, because while you may decide on a single flavor in the end, it leaves an impression on the next flavor you might try.

Another reason they do this is because they are constantly changing the flavors they have available, which isn’t a bad thing since it gives a customer a more ‘seasonal’ experience. On my trip there, they had orange, watermelon, strawberry, cheesecake, butter pecan, chocolate, vanilla, cookies ’n cream and plenty of others.
Serving sizes come in 12-ounce cups, 16-ounce cups or waffle cones that you can get either plain or dipped and candied with nuts or sprinkles. Customers also scoop their own toppings from the fruit bar with nine selections, including more than one flavor of boba, and 33 candied options including gummy bears, Jolly Ranchers, gummy worms, nuts, nerds, cereals such as Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Fruity Pebbles and Twix.
Aside from their frozen yogurt selection, they also make smoothies in four different flavors and give you the option to make your own as well. I went with cheesecake yogurt topped with mango boba, brownie bits and sprinkles. The texture of their yogurt was unfathomably smooth and did not disappoint. The toppings accessorized the flavor well and in a yogurt shop with this many selections, there is no real wrong answer. On top of this, they also do ABAC discounts, making it a perfect place for students.
Yellow Monkey Frozen Yogurt Shop is open 7 days a week. During the winter, their hours are from noon to 8 p.m. on the weekdays, noon to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays.
