The 100-Mile Peanut Picking Yard Sale is an annual event both Carl Bledsoe and Gary Holton anticipate every year. The name states the length of the yard sale, but the deals are seemingly endless. It follows Highway 33 and goes through Unadilla, Vienna, Cordele, Sylvester, and ends in Moultrie.

Bledsoe and Holton come together as yard sale experts and neighbors, selling their items while hosting around 25 vendors. Regular vendor items include antiques, household items, collectibles, and even food and desserts.

“We go to yard sales, flea markets, anywhere we can to sell each year. We keep things sometimes until the next year around,” said Holton.

“Rain, snow, sleet, or hail” became more than just a saying after Hurricane Helene came through. It was just four days later that the annual yard sale was held.

Holton said, “Our numbers were off a little bit, but it was still worthwhile. It takes more than a hurricane to stop them.”

Bledsoe and Holton explained that it’s getting increasingly harder to find unique antique items than in years past. However, they don’t let changing times and price gouging keep them down.

Bledsoe said, “Enjoyment, it’s seeing how other people are amazed at what you come up with. It thrills you to know you found something that someone else wants. Some stuff we even beat Walmart’s prices.”

“On that day, it bothers us that we can’t go to find the other deals,” Holton said. “We have to stay and run the show. If it was where I could leave my wife running it, then I would, but she would swap everything I got for something she wants.”

Holton continued, “I plan on having this [yard sale] again next year. As long I’m physically able to be out there, then I will be.”

The other regular or new vendors enjoy selling their items at this prime location.

Will Rumley set up for the first time this year: “This is my first time I’ve ever tried to sell things at a yard sale in almost 30 years. A friend of mine told me about this venue and I called to find out there was one spot left.”

The yard sales starting at daylight, so the vendors come the day before to set up their items. Bledsoe and Holton deter any wannabe criminals from taking their own preview the night before as hired security surveil the yard all night long.

Those that want to come and shop in a family friendly environment, make sure you stop at 103 Bridgeboro Anderson City Rd. where the right deal will be waiting for you.
