For the first time, ABAC-Bainbridge has finally got the agricultural science degree.

The first and only class to start off is the introduction to animal science course, taught by Dr. Carla Sanford.

Mr. William Bius is the coordinator for the agriculture and communications department. He was the first to announce the introduction of the animal science course to the Bainbridge campus.

As an animal science major myself, I think this is wonderful for all students who are pursuing this field. Students at the Bainbridge campus finally get to have the ability to learn more about animals on a far deeper level.

I also work in a veterinary hospital, so being able to learn about this and do my job will help me along my own path—I can only imagine how many other students will benefit from this change.

Right now, it is uncertain if this class is the start of a larger expansion on the Bainbridge campus, but students are hopeful that the course and degree selection will continue to grow.

Scheduling classes can be difficult when some classes aren’t available for Bainbridge students. This new addition is the first step to making the scheduling process that much easier.

The new ag science degree also opens doors for opportunities outside the classroom. Some students are hoping that this will lead to more hands-on classes or even trips related to the courses offered.

This degree is great for not only students achieving an animal science degree, but also for ag education majors, especially those interested or involved in raising a farm.

This degree can also help students build leadership skills, learn agricultural mechanics, and enhance their understanding of food production and distribution.

Introducing an agricultural science degree is just the beginning of something new and exciting for everyone on campus. Whether you’re in the degree or not, it is a great opportunity for anything hands-on and a huge step forward for the entire Bainbridge campus.
